It's a new year! First of all, I want to share that I'm happy to have you all here. I want to express my gratitude for seeing 2021. And I'm ready to make some changes. I want to feel better and look better. I want to be a better wife and mother. I want a more productive 2021. I want to be great.
It all starts in the morning. Won't you join me as I implement these steps that I have come up with in order to have a better morning and a better day?
GET UP WITH YOUR ALARM.
Yes, hitting the snooze feels damn good but for me, it's a never-ending cycle, I don't just hit it once, I end up swiping my alarm app over and over until I'm so late I have to get up and I rush around stressed and annoyed. Not a great way to start the day. Waking up with my alarm, which is set before I need to get my children up means I have time for stillness and silence(as a mom of 4, who knows when I'll get another chance for that during the day.) Getting up on time is a great practice and a habit that you need to adopt into your routine if you haven't already. It will get easier. I have a great reason to get my butt up...
My morning hug, my one true love, the best part of waking up! I am not joking when I say that when I'm lying in bed after turning off my alarm (and getting my butt up) that my mind first lands on my beloved coffee. Not only do I need the caffeine but I also ENJOY my coffee, like, a lot. If you don't like coffee, try a yummy cup of hot tea. A hot drink is just soothing in the morning but you can drink whatever gets you going, smoothie might be a good option too. You can always make your hot beverage more exciting by trying different flavored creamers, like seasonal ones, or treating yourself to a new, cute mug.
to making morning coffee quicker. In the afternoon or evening before, I dump any remaining coffee and clean out my machine. I add fresh water and more coffee for the next morning so all I have to do is press 'on' in the morning, I also clean out my mug and leave it on the counter for the next day.✔
EAT A HEALTHY BREAKFAST!
Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Do NOT skip breakfast, we all need our fuel, this is non-negotiable and it's something that I have luckily already made a habit of. My go-to meal is real simple, Oatmeal. It's easy, quick, and filling. I have two packets of Maple &Brown Suga which I can annihilate in less than 3 minutes and then I finish my coffee. ✔ that off the list.
If you're home with the kiddos doing virtual school like me then you definitely don't need the 3 piece suit and pumps, but I know that I feel better when I am dressed. Even if dressed means leggings and a sweatshirt. I also don't feel put together if I don't have on an actual bra. Comfy cute and ready to wake up the children.
**HACK pick out your outfit the night before like we did before the first day of school! I'm talking everything down to your underwear and socks so you're not going through drawers all morning.
HYGIENE AND SKINCARE
One of my goals for 2021 is to take better care of my skin and teeth (I'm not the best flosser and I haven't had as much as an at-home face mask in over a year.) I have dry skin so I use Cera-Ve moisturizing facial wash and follow up with their moisturizer. (Cera Ve is one of the best drug store skin items out there with very simple ingredients, and it's cheap as well. My skincare products are six bucks apiece.) There is something about brushing my teeth that really makes me feel like I'm ready for the day. Also, don't forget your deodorant.
BUST OUT MY PLANNER
Each part of my morning routine is crucial and sitting down to look at my schedule for the day is something that helps ground me and keep me organized. The evening before, I jot down a few things that I already know needs to get done the next day. I review what I already have written and add any tasks, appointments, and reminders. My daily planner page also has a space for gratitude and I always make sure that I fill that in before I start my day.
